Marriage Tradition inside the Balkans

In the modern world wedding ceremonies are basically considered to be a celebration of affection, a union between two people and a fresh start in your life. The groom wonderful guests would also put apples for the graves of their forefathers in order to request them to the wedding ceremony.

A lot of the wedding party traditions in Serbia are connected to the belief that wicked spirits and demons can cast evil spells on persons. That is why a Serbian marriage ceremony had to be full of elements that would defend the newlyweds from those nasty eyes.

Before the big day, a person called the Buklijas (a man who was embellished with flowers and filled with rakija) visited the groom’s close friends and asked them to drink through the special flask that he previously. He would also give them funds and decorate it with them. That was a way of welcoming the future husband and wife to his along with giving them a chance to get to know one another before the wedding day.

In the wedding day, a member from the groom’s family group would open the door to his long term in-laws. Then simply, they would try to cheat him and present him with a phony bride. This could be anything from a tough doll dressed up in a bridal gown for the bride’s grandmother or maybe male close family. Once the bridegroom is misled, he would leave with his bride and go to the chapel.

The original Bosnian wedding party reflects the country’s history and complex lifestyle. Bosnia and Herzegovina is mostly a multi-ethnic country where Muslims, Orthodox Christians, and Catholics coexist. The wedding events differ depending on the religious parti and regional persuits. The most common facet of a Bosnian wedding is the fact it will last three days and is joined by the entire community. Ladies and girls assist to prepare meals for the guests, bake pies and bread and clean wheat for the tables. They’d do this early on in the mornings for three times straight. Additionally , men and women would dance with each other, sing rhythmical sounds, play lutes and cifteli, and throw cigs to the friends.
